A criticism levelled at this brand is that although the unit will give a warning beep when the batteries are low, unless you are within earshot at the time, then you will not be aware that the system is no longer operational. You will need to be proactive in changing the batteries.
Some users have complained that they have had problems in finding out how to delete a watering time once it’s been programmed.
On the plus side, across the board, users find it to be reliable and a good quality product.
The Gilmour 9100 is the cheaper model and is not as complex as the 9400. Users found the price very comparable with other brands offering the same capabilities, and that it was easy to program.
On the negative side, a few users have mentioned that there is significant water hammer when it shuts off but overall seems to be a good robust unit.
It pays to be aware that Gilmour overhauled this model in 2007 so any reviews prior to that date refer to an almost different product.
